Welcome to HDM Sustainable Solutions, a new part of the HDM group focused on promoting a greener future.
Reducing emissions, improving the climate and circularity are of paramount importance. In order to contribute to this, we have set a number of key objectives.

Energy storage with ESBA
One of the goals of the ESBA project (Energy Storage By Air) is to store energy generated, for example, by solar panels or wind turbines.
The ESBA system stores this energy in an air pressure battery, allowing the electricity to be used later, for instance, in the evening to charge electric vehicles. This contributes to better utilization of green energy, a reduction in CO₂ emissions, and can help alleviate part of the grid congestion.
Together with Loods M and the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, the project offers young people and students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with sustainable energy storage and new innovations. The collaboration and execution of the project are made possible in part by JTF.

Emission measurements and the CTU project
Industrial Emissions can be measured with the HDM measuring technology and can be viewed and stored online. The so-called Measuring at the pipe is to constantly measure the emissions from engines.
And measurements of volatile hydrocarbons are used to monitor and control vapor processing systems, among other things.
The CTU is such a vapor softening system and also the next target of HDM
The CTU (Cargo Treatment Unit) project is currently receiving the highest priority due to the upcoming degassing ban that will come into effect on July 1, 2024.
With our CTU unit we ensure that vapors/gases, which until now have been freely ventilated into the atmosphere, are condensed back into the original charge/liquid with our unit. In this way we prevent harmful substances from being released into the air. Here too, we will share regular updates as the project progresses.

Fieldlab Harbour Energy Hub
With our JTF project Fieldlab Harbour Energy Hub Nieuwe-Waterweg (JTFW-00134), we support the educational development of students from various study programs in collaboration with Loods M.
Within this project, we share our expertise on the machine we have developed, in which the air pressure battery plays a central role. Students are given the opportunity to work hands-on with the machine and carry out real-life tests themselves. This enables them to gain valuable practical experience and provides direct insight into the operation, capabilities, and applications of the technology.
In addition, students are encouraged to think beyond the technology itself: exploring how this knowledge and experience can contribute to new ideas, innovations, and applications within broader technical and sustainable developments for the future.
